I wrote this program mostly just because I was messing around with different pathing/filling algorithms and the Java PixelGrabber class.

The program lets you color different motives (animals, people, vehicles, etc..) and I’ve probably spent more time coloring dogs and bunnies than actual programming

Since this was originally supposed to be a mash up of the movie poster, Clara was to be edited in last. However as I changed my mind in the middle and made a desktop background, the element where she was supposed to be did not work well for a wallpaper.. And adding her in with the rest of the cast would at this point mean making the whole picture from scratch :/

Today I transferred most of my domains (16) from godaddy to one of the best alternatives I could find: Dynadot.com

Price

Here are the prices for renewals for the domain types I have, and dynadot does very favorable. Their prices are also easy to find, and they don’t have tons of weird sales or try to sell you all kinds of CRAP when dealing with them..

* there is a sale on .info domains at godaddy, regular price is 10.87$
These prices where collected from their websites May 20th 2010.
NOTE: I think if you have MANY domains, godaddy might be a little bit cheaper than Dynadot.

So all in all I’m saving around 15-20$ a year by moving to Dynadot, but I would gladly pay that amount extra just to get away from the horrible godaddy management pages which sucks.

The Dynadot pages are a LOT less cluttered, does not use lots of popups/dialog boxes and is much more faster and responsive than godaddy’s interface.

So if you have a bunch of domains at godaddy and have gotten tired of the constant cluttering, special offers and crap they push on you, Just go somewhere else

The Transfer process

Transferring from godaddy.com to dynadot.com also went extremely smooth and fast with no downtime:

1. Unlock the domain(s) at the godaddy domain manager, and click the button to send transfer code by email
2. You now get an email for every domain you have, with a transfer code
3. Enter the domain name(s) and transfer code(s) at dynadot, then pay and proceed to checkout.
4. You now get a confirmation email from dynadot for each domain, with a link to a page where you just click “confirm transfer”
5. After about 15-30 minutes you get an email from godaddy asking you to accept or cancel the transfer.
6. When that email has arrived, log in and go to the domain manager, scroll over the “domains” menu and select “pending transfers”, then just mark of the domains you’ve selected for transfer and click “accept”
7. After that the domain should disappear from your godaddy domain manager and show up at dynadot instead within the hour.

It can measure almost anything from -32 to 350c at a distance using a infrared sensor.

So far I’ve made some amazing scientific discoveries for mankind:

• The surface temperature of hands and arms varies between 33-36 c
• The perfect frying pan temperature for making veggie burgers is 220 c
• 65-70c is the optimal temperature a slice of pizza
• A sleeping ferret only has a temperature of 28c, thanks to good insulating fur
• The thermometer can be used to detect sleeping ferrets (there are lots of blankets in the living room)
• The mean temperature difference between the floor and ceiling in my apartment is 2.2c
• Driving at 80 km/h on a motorcycle a cold spring night gives your legs a surface temperature of 16 c (full riding gear).
• The paint from a can of spray paint (the kind used for cars/motorcycles) is quite cold: 0-1 c
• When using quick epoxy, the chemical reaction from mixing the base and primer makes the epoxy 35 c (in a 14 c ambient temperature).

The tapwater temperature

In an effort to prevent Stacy from using to hot water while making lemonade, I measured the temperature in 100 ml increments, showing that the water will at first have the room temperature of the kitchen, followed by the room temperature of the basement before reaching the optimal 4-5 c temperature. This took around 8 liters (or 15 seconds), but will of course vary from building to building.

I tested the 4 brands at 4 tests, and rated them on a scale from 1 (worst) to 10 (best). Thanks to Stacy for being the lab assistant during the tests btw

As the results show, the new “Best in Norway” chocolate milk tasted like crap, while the one I usually buy (Tine sjokomelk) was beaten by a small margin by Litago (also from “Tine”). At least my regular brand had a very low standard deviation . The winners were “Litago original sjokolademelk” and “Litago lettere sjokolademelk”, with the latter having a lower standard deviation (consistently yummy) and being crowned the winner of the test:

Anyway, this was the best image I could find, but it’s kinda old, blurry so I fixed the colors, contrast, sharpness removed artifacts, etc.. in photoshop and I think the end result is pretty good considering my photoshop noobness. So if your looking for a large good picture of Carl Sagan (And let’s be hones, who would NOT want such a picture??) here it is:
