Silly Norwegian Names

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

In Norway everyone who pays taxes is put in a public database which says how much money they make and how much tax they pay, and which year they are born. This of course is pretty controversial and each year there is a big debate when the new list is released.

Personally I don’t care, but the upside is that this list can be used to find silly/funny/awesome names :D

  • 2 people in Norway is named Jack Bauer
  • 3 people have Batman as middle name, 1 as last name
  • Only 1 person has Superman as middle name
  • 3 people have MacGyver as middle name
  • over 100 foreigners have the last name “Moradi” which in Norwegian translates to “Yourmother”
  • 5 people have Skywalker as the middle name
  • 12 People have Picard as last name (which is why my application to have my middle name changed to Picard was denied.. Since there are so few Picards in Norway, I would have to get a written permission from all of them to use that name) :(
  • There is a guy in Norway named Frodo
  • A 23 year old girl with the last name Stalin
  • Peter Griffin pays tax to Norway
  • A guy in Norway is actually named Bruce Campbell
  • 22 people have the last name “Leet”
  • 3 Aragorns
  • One guy has the following middle names: “Gimli Arn Macgyver Chewbacka[SIC] Highlander Elessar”
  • 3 people have Thrall as last name
  • 4 people are actually have Virgin as their last name
  • While 3 people have Troll as their last name
  • 1503 Khans, but only 66 Kirks…
  • 9 Inaras, 16 Zoe’s, 4 Cobb’s, 2 Kaylee’s and 7 Malcolms :)
  • 1 Girl has Buffy as middle name
  • 5 people have Angel as first name
  • 2 people have Angelus as first name :o
  • 1 Guy is named “Giles Rupert” (close enough I guess ) :)

New job + curse of the fourth floor

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

September 1. I started working at Bibsys, which is a company that develops library systems.
Teknobyen

This means I can no longer spend the days in my underwear, watching Macgyver dvd’s and playing Neverwinter Nights (I have somehow managed to loose my save games, so my once proud half-orc barbarian is no longer… but there is a seriously overpowered lvl 8 wizard that has taken his place).

I’m also happy to say that “everything” at Bibsys is Java, so my chances of being haunted by php are virtually gone :)

The curse of the fourth floor
the First time I whored my programming services out for money
was over at Uninet, I was working on the 4th floor.
My first full time job was over at Intrapoint, where I worked on the 4th floor.
The job after Intrapoint was over at Market Monitor / Betradar, also here I stayed on the 4th floor.. then I was moved to another office which was ALSO on the 4th floor.

Now I’m working at Bibsys, at the 4th floor.. spooky :o

In Soviet Trondheim, road hits YOU!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Hehe, I was just on my way to my first hour of motorcycle driving practice. I was driving my scooter, and I was driving reasonably slow, maybe  around 20-25 km/h (although, in hindsight.. I should PERHAPS have driven even slower) :)

Anyway, as I’m about to exit a roundabout, the rear wheel looses it’s grip and the scooter starts sliding sideways. oh, did I mention it was raining? well, it was and that roundabout was unbelievably slippery.

So there I was, sliding sideways knowing all to well what was about to happen, and as the crablike movement of the scooter slowed it down, the rear tire finally got a hold of the road again. This of course made the scooter throw me off like the angry little plastic pony it is.

Terrible traffic accident
“Artist” rendering of the accident.

So I flew trough the air about a meter or two, hit the road elbow first.  Luckily the Road broke my fall, and seeing that I was wearing a full motorcycle dress, I could just get up and drive on.

I actually seem to recall a tiny voice inside my head going “Wheeeee!” in mid air,

The results of this interesting experience is:

  • A small scratch on the helmet
  • A bruised elbow
  • A little less paint and plastic on the scooter
  • The deformation of the forward brake handle.

I feel a bit soar on the right elbow, hip, and upper chest, but otherwise I’m fine.. Sitting in the couch watching Macgyver like I’m supposed to, Just 2 more episodes left and I can start on season 4 :)
