Star Trek Online

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

After years of following the development, Star Trek Online is finally in closed beta, and the game is on track for a early 2010 release :)

The cryptic character creator will allow you to invent new species for the game, and I might go for something like this:
cryptic_ferret

Or if that is not possible my character will be Andorian (assuming this fits well with a tactical/dps character). I’m in the “guild” called “12th fleet”, and we are now the second largest guild on the STO forum. So if you want to play with the pro’s, head over to http://www.12th-fleet.com :)

Bamboo!

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I recently bought a cheap drawing tablet, the Bamboo one from Wacom. So far I’m pretty pleased with the tablet and the software that came with it.

Here are some crappy images I made with the pencil and paintbrush tool:

New Trekwar GUI

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Since I fixed that annoying memory leak, I’ve been working on updating the graphical client of the trekwar game. Instead of having the map as a own internal window, the map is now always shown. I also made a new menu in Photoshop (thank Thor for photoshop tutorials ;) )

new screenshot (0.3.1)

Next up is implementing the new Shipdesigner system.

DDM damage counters (Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures)

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I dont care much for the few damage counters you get in the starter packs, so I’ve made my own that I print out and laminate. I just remade them for the new version, and added bloodied symbols and some other things.

I like using damage counters as opposed to writing down the Hitpoints. Maybe it’s just a flimsy excuse to play with brightly colored objects? :) Still, pen and paper would still be needed to mark what the custom effects (a – j) means. And to write down which spells/abilities you have used.

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Asteroids! IN SPACE!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

So, seeing that I don’t have to work for a couple of weeks at least, I’ve been working on my Star Trek game :)

I’ve been doing lots of GUI stuff and UI enhancing lately and the game now looks a bit more attractive, I will probably post some screenshots of the changes to the user interface next week, for now I’ll show off the asteroids system.

This is the first version, a simple non-transparent image drawn in mspaint on my laptop :)

The second version had transparent background and there where 5 different tiles.

This is the final version, each tile that is part of an asteroid field generates an image using from 2-10 transparent images from 10 base-tiles. This causes LOTS of unique tiles, and it allows the size of the asteroid belt to visually indicate how many resources the field has. This also makes it possible for asteroid fields to shrink little by little as they are mined.

Whalers pwned by Ninjas!

Friday, September 14th, 2007

The Norwegian whaling “Willassen Senior” was recently sunk while at port using the good old Saltwater cooling intake method:)
The group Agenda 21 (allegedly with several Norwegian members) has claimed credit for this feat. Below is an artist(well.. Me) rendering of how the ninjas where victorious:

Kawaii Kokoro kuma!

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

So, having watched the Kokoro Scan trailer 50 times, I went into photoshop and made myself a background

Kokoro Bear Kuma

The result was so so, should have drawn the bear in illustrator instead to get better lines, that would have been a lot faster as well.

Hindsight.. :(
